This is a 10 mile swim through the mountain area of southeast tn. This will be the first year for this swim.
The leaves will be changing color, during Oct, so this will be a great time to be in this part of the country(plus no humidity)

This looks really awesome. Will you actually venture into the open water?
Will you do it? I am planning on helping out with the event, but not actually swimming 10 miles.
The event is not for profit, which Karah will update the website to make it more clear about where the proceeds go.
They usually lower the lakes around here in early oct. That would be nice if they waited until the middle of the month, then there would be a better current.
If there isn't a lot of rainfall leading up the event, I wouldn't expect much of a current for the race.
Patrick, if there are enough people this year, then it will probably become an year event.

Yes, it is very drivable from Chicago. I will be driving to Chicago in August from Chattanooga. The drive takes 8-10 hours, depending on traffic and how many times you want to stop.
Also, American airlines sometimes offers direct flights from ORD to Chattanooga as well.

As for bears, don't worry about em. The natives will again take care of any baer sigthin.
