2010 USMS LCM NATS San Juan, Puerto Rico

2010 LCM NATS San Juan, Puerto Rico August 9 - 12, 2010 ORDER OF EVENTS
  • I am ready to travel. Allergies are kicking in but hopefully will not be a problem in Puerto Rico.
  • I will look for you, Elaine! I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I enjoy reading your posts. Thanks for the luck for Nats! I'm actually almost more nervous about PTC because I'm *thinking* of trying the ironman pentathlon... unless a smarter person than I succeeds in talking me out of it! :afraid: If you do the ironman- uh- make that IRONWOMAN I will  to you. I'm a newbie in USMS and only swim the 50, 100, and 200 breaststroke events at meets. So, for me, to swim the mini version of the pentathlon is enough for me! :bump: Anyway, glad you enjoy my posts- thanks! :) Please let us know how your experience is at Nats. Meanwhile, I'll be keeping an eye on the results! :cheerleader:

You will do just fine. Remember, just swim until you get to the other wall. At that point, either stop or turn. If ya turn, just keep swimming. Look at this way, you keep to swim longer without having to turn and start all over again. A lot like open water but without all the nasty crud. That's a great way of looking at it -- I'll have plenty of time to think of that during the 800. :) Hope to see you there!

Best of luck to all....especially my GAJA teammates!:cheerleader::applaud: Thanks, and we'll miss you, Jeff! Looking forward to SCY season and all of the meets coming up. You going to PTC? I'm thinking of doing a PTC Pentathlon/Duluth Fall Festival 5K (run) double that weekend.

Nerves set in for me when the psych sheets came out(and I've been going to LCM Nats since 1975.)That is part of the excitement. The adrenaline is part of swimming as fast as you can.Just remember the real race is with yourself(of course ,yourself was in a tech suit and you're not so it's not a fair race.) I agree about the nerves part -- the tricky part is having the right amount of nervousness. During Nats in Atlanta this year, I was nervous because I didn't think I was nervous ENOUGH the day before the 500. That wasn't good, because I actually *tried* to make myself a little more nervous. Well, it worked TOO well because by the time the real nerves kicked in, I had myself so worked up. I think I actually hyperventilated during the heat before mine as I had to sit down and put my head between my knees. It didn't make for a very pretty race. I hope I have learned to let the beneficial nerves take care of themselves! Thankfully, I've never raced a LCM meet in a tech suit, so I have fewer expectations. :) Hope to meet you there!

The swimmers are arriving in San Juan! The pool was open today for warmups and check-in. The Forumites here include Allen Stark, Rich Abrahams, Jim Clemmons, Muppet, SwimmieAvsFan, and The Wookiee. Everyone seems to love the open-air pool. There's always a breeze through the venue, but the roof keeps the sun off the spectator seating. Part of the roof over the pool has skylights, which helps keep an "outdoor" feel. We are staying at the Marriott Courtyard on the beach. The view from our window is AWESOME. I will post a photo when I get a chance to take one! Anna Lea
  • First day went well. We had some rain and cool breezes so the temperature was great for swimming today. Looking forward to more fun with everyone this week.
