Crashing vs. Landing in fly

Question for all the flyers. I watched a new fly video with Christine Magnuson(olympic butterfly medalist from 2008). She and her coach Matt Kredich were discussing the difference about crashing on entry and landing on entry for fly. I get the crashing part really well. I can't figure out how to "land" on the fly entry. While the video is really informative, they didn't discuss much how to focus on landing on entry. Any thoughts on how to "land" vs "crash" on entry?

Think about entering the water with soft hands. That will help you to land vs. crash.
