Question for all the flyers. I watched a new fly video with Christine Magnuson(olympic butterfly medalist from 2008).
She and her coach Matt Kredich were discussing the difference about crashing on entry and landing on entry for fly.
I get the crashing part really well. I can't figure out how to "land" on the fly entry. While the video is really informative, they didn't discuss much how to focus on landing on entry.
Any thoughts on how to "land" vs "crash" on entry?
I haven't seen the video, but I've seen lots of people "crash" their entry by accelerating their arms toward the midline at entry causing a noticable splash going sideways (into the next lane). The emphasis immediately prior to entry is to float soft hands forward. Of course, it helps to have a good second kick. There were plenty of people doing it extremely well in Atlanta.
