Have you filmed your underwater motions? Maybe there is something going on at somepoint in the pulldown that makes the judges believe you are doing more than one dolphin kick.
Perhaps so. I'm going to kick during the pulldown today on my relay to prevent any chance of DQ. On the upside, both Ahelee and Ande were watching and confirmed that I have successfully changed my stroke from an old fashioned flat stroke to an undulating one ... At least with the currently legal suits.
Oh, and for the record, this was a different DQ than Zones.
I am curious how everyone is doing with the walls. I noticed they are going with flat walls on the start end and "gutter" walls on the bulkhead. Has it been hard remembering to do different turns for fly and *** on each end, not to mention that most of you probably weren't prepared for flat wall turns for this meet?
Not so bad, for me; you just have to remember to come in hard on the flat wall turns so you have something to push against. A bigger issue for me is that they use the hated Omega pads, the most slippery pads on the planet for backstroke starts. These are roughened up slightly compared to the older Omegas, but they still don't inspire confidence. I have been hesitant/conservative on all my backstroke starts.
I jammed one turn on the bulkhead (back flip on the IM) but that was my fault more than anything, I shouldn't have taken that extra stroke.
For me, the crowded warmup conditions require MUCH more adjustment than the walls. No contest -- not even close -- Clovis and Indy were much better in that respect.
This may be heresy but...I'm not particularly impressed with the pool. It is quite a nice pool, sure, but I would not have said "world class" if I didn't already know they hosted the Olympics. Plenty of room in the stands, though.
Lots of signs about the demise of the Clemson swim program, I have seen quite a few alums that I swam against while in college. Very sad.
He swam it in jammers to try and qualify for a USA-S meet.
Pete looked practically nekked in that sea of bodysuits, and his seed time was a LZR time. He had trouble with the bulkhead wall and missed his turns there. He did split a 21.9 on our relay though, so his speed is there!
Many many folks are complaining about the white bulkhead wall in addition to not being able to hear the starting beep.
Wow.

Mighty Mermaid Lisa Bennett was also under the national record in the 50 *** but lost that race to Heuer. Heartbreaking, but she's having an awesome meet (after an injury this year too).

I missed one of the turns in my 200 free but it was that I was too far from the bulkhead. It is hard to see as it blends in too much with the bottom of the pool.
There are lots of problems with the pool, which is too bad because the people are wonderful and really trying hard.I don't know what is the problem with the starting beep, but it is not always audible. The bulkhead is a little hard to see on free, but a bigger issue is that it seems very bad at wave control.People are swimming some awesome times, but I don't think it is a particularly fast pool.It is probably faster as LCM since there would be no bulkhead. The warm up/cool down situation in the diving well does resemble bumper cars.I don't want to complain too much as at least they bid on the meet and are really trying.

Ditto. Ed Saltzmann is doing a great job, as are the other volunteers. There are glitches, sure, but it is a well-run meet. The warmup situation is just a result of "too much of a good thing" (ie, almost 2000 people attending). The logistics of handling such a meet must be mind-boggling. I was worried about the trolley but there are plenty of them running, even when the meet lets out it isn't too bad.
I knew about the warmup situation coming in, it is not an uncommon problem at nationals. Everyone has to deal with it.
This was a BADASS swim! The place erupted too when he finished! :applaud::bow::bow::bow:
Rich is having an amazing meet. Nothing new there!
Hey Lump, I see you scratched the 500 free. Did you swim anything today?
