  • Epic battle in the 200 fly: Event 40 Men 45-49 200 Yard Butterfly ================================================================== NATL: N 1:50.73 12/6/2008 DENNIS BAKER Name Age Team Seed Finals ================================================================== 1 Baker, Dennis G 48 OREG 1:51.92 1:53.19 26.26 55.08 (28.82) 1:23.90 (28.82) 1:53.19 (29.29) 2 Sims, David E 47 IM 1:58.50 1:53.21 25.81 54.74 (28.93) 1:23.93 (29.19) 1:53.21 (29.28) Those guys swam great but I will nevertheless seamlessly segue into a discussion about pianos. Remember the scale described in the piano section of the Swim Slang thread? calculating the difference between 100 splits in a 200 event helps identify pianos even if you weren't there. 3 or less: could have gone out faster 4-5: good 6-7: try to start out a bit slower next time 8-9: that had to hurt 10+: piano 20+: srsly... what were you thinking So I calculated the split differences for all 197 of the 200 flys in Atlanta that had proper splits. First finding: we need a new category. 40+: i don't know what to call this Tot W M
