Not so bad, for me; you just have to remember to come in hard on the flat wall turns so you have something to push against. A bigger issue for me is that they use the hated Omega pads, the most slippery pads on the planet for backstroke starts. These are roughened up slightly compared to the older Omegas, but they still don't inspire confidence. I have been hesitant/conservative on all my backstroke starts.
I jammed one turn on the bulkhead (back flip on the IM) but that was my fault more than anything, I shouldn't have taken that extra stroke.
For me, the crowded warmup conditions require MUCH more adjustment than the walls. No contest -- not even close -- Clovis and Indy were much better in that respect.
This may be heresy but...I'm not particularly impressed with the pool. It is quite a nice pool, sure, but I would not have said "world class" if I didn't already know they hosted the Olympics. Plenty of room in the stands, though.
Lots of signs about the demise of the Clemson swim program, I have seen quite a few alums that I swam against while in college. Very sad.
Agree with Chris. I don't understand the fuss/buzz over the pool. My home pool, Mason, seems just as fast to me. If you're going to swim in the Dixie Zone, ;), I think Auburn is faster.
The starting system is only for those with acute hearing. I have to keep my cap above my ears. The shaved head seems like a good way to go here.
