Recommend stroke analysis by The Athlete Village?

The Athlete Village will be at Nationals, so it got me thinking about having my breaststroke analyzed. Have you had this done? Do you recommend it? Does The Athlete Village do the filming at Nationals? If they do the filming, how much does it cost? Ande and Allen, my two mentors on the forums: What do you think? Is there a better use of my money or is this $ well spent? Anybody else out there who has an opinion to offer on this, I would appreciate your advice! Thanks! :D

  • Here's the scoop: I decided to have The Athlete Village film my 200 breaststroke, because this is the event I would like to get best at in breaststroke. Unfortunately, by Sunday, I was a mess from lack of good sleep; mostly because of my exposure to the heat/humidity at the pool. I have medical issues with that (heat intolerance...), so it caught up with me. No excuses; I beat my seed time, but my arms and legs felt like I had weights strapped to them by the halfway mark and my stroke and turns fell apart. Uggghhh; I had been doing better in practice... :badday: Anyway, the analysis is complete. See it and judge for yourself whether it was worth it for me to have it done. Personally, I feel it was! The only thing missing was advice on how to make my starts better off the blocks, before I hit the water. I may have had a quick start, but I KNOW my hips aren't getting up and my left leg drags... Go to: www.theathletevillage.com/elainek Make sure to watch the short tutorial so you understand how the software works. It is a MUST to listen to the commentary; otherwise you'll lose too much. (If you use AOL like I do and can't hear the commentary, access The Athlete Village website via the web-based AOL or use Internet Explorer.) I will be curious to hear your feedback on the video analysis! And, any feedback on my stroke (other than what the coach already told me) would be appreciated. Just don't laugh, ok? Remember, I'm a newbie (February 2010)! :D :bliss:
