Manly men pick sports like swimming over group sports.

Next time your son comes home and tells you that his classmates are telling him that it is more manly to play football or basketball than swim, point him to the below study. Seems men with higher testosterone levels prefer one-on-one competition to group competition. www.pranjmehta.com/.../Mehtaetal2009.pdf
  • Reminds me of High School, when a certain football player, on a team that won 4 games in 4 years, told me I wasn't really an athlete, because swimmers had soft muscles. After I goaded him into hitting me hard in the solar plexus without a flinch in front of numerous witnesses, that kind of talk ended, in that school anyway.
  • What's your point? You need to get a TRO on your stalker pal Stillwater. It's approaching D2 creepiness.

I wonder how Geek got into swimming then? I thought he had more estrogen than testosterone. Ha, ha, ha! Nice zinger wook. I see you have evolved from poop to gender jokes. I wonder where you will go next. Your pal

What's your point? Wow, Wookster, from grade school humor to Socratic questioning. You stun me again. I just put the helmet on and I'm going back in time again to document your past quips. (By the way, I still have your size super-extra-small time traveling helmet around here. The cat kind of pooped in it but I don't think you'll notice.) Please keep your unique wit coming, it will make our book a best seller. Your Pal

Stillwater is out of the office and unable to respond. He is back in time. He will return later, before this was written.
  • All I know is that in all my years of swimming, I never saw guys whip each with towels or slap each other on their butts which is the right of passage in football. Yet, swimming is the flamboyent sport.

In my school the swimmers were saved from having to perform such demonstrations by the fact that one of the starting linemen on the football team swam butterfly. He let everyone know that swimming practice was "way tougher" than football practice. I'll take his word for it as my body type is incompatible with football...
