With about a month and and a half to go....I need some advice on a training plan..... It is March 30th and I am just getting in the water. I really need help getting ready. I am not from a pure swimming background so I do not know how to get ready for a meet. I will swim 50 free, 100 free, 50 ***. My times are pretty good... but I want to peek right. THoughts? Any help out there? THanks in advance.

  • the simple approach is to: warm up 500 to 1000 then race 1 or 2 events for time each day in practice after each fast swim think about the mistakes you made and attempt to correct them Or have someone watch you Your training can be that simple Actually racing in practice will help you prepare to race in the meet As you get closer to the meet, the less fast stuff you need to do maybe just do fast 25's or fast through the turn Swim down and put plenty of rest between swims concentrate on perfect form for training ideas follow My Blog/ Ande's Leslie's Blog Chris Stevenson's Blog Recent Blogs You can also read the archive of my old blog from 2008 & see each practice which shows how I prepared for the 2008 Masters Nats I made excellent drops from 2007 to 2008 & it's all right there. You could also adjust the time line for days away from the meet since the Austin Nats were in early May and these are in the 3rd week of May Nat's is 7 weeks out, 51 days away if you swim 5 or 6 times a week, you'd have 35 or 42 chances to practice your races If you do you'll be much more familiar with them. It's OK to lift weights to get stronger Keep it simple have fun. Get a fast suit Hope this helps you Swim Faster Faster Ande With about a month and and a half to go....I need some advice on a training plan..... It is March 30th and I am just getting in the water.
