One thing that really motivated me to improve in 2008, was a 2007 conversation I had with my former UT teammate John Smith.
We were talking about the 2008 SCY Masters Nationals in Austin.
John said to me: "Raz you can always bust a 50!"
(he meant that he expected me to be able to swim a pretty fast 50 free)
(in 2007 I went 22.3 in the 50 free and at the time I had a few doubts)
After that conversation, I shifted my training to bust a decent 50 at Nats
my 2007 time was 22.3 & I worked on it & improved, my 2008 time was 21.4.
