Eat or not before swimming in Early Morning?

Is there any harm if you don't eat anything before swimming at 5am, 6am (though I suppose that's what most early swimmers do)?

-Swimming immediately or too soon after eating is not good Are you sure about that? Always seemed like an old wives tale to me. If eating immediately before swimming doesn't bother you then I see no reason not to.
