2012 in Omaha

Thoughts everyone? I don't really have issue with a National's meet being held a week early. It would be neat if they could convince a few "Olympic stars" to hang around a few extra days to sign autographs, perhaps in the format of a "swimming expo". My main concern would be the logistics - Omaha is not the greatest or easiest city to fly into, and hotels will be hard to come by with two major swimming events going on over a couple days. Also, I assume college world series is close to those dates too...

My main concern would be the logistics - Omaha is not the greatest or easiest city to fly into, and hotels will be hard to come by with two major swimming events going on over a couple days. Also, I assume college world series is close to those dates too... I just received and completed a short survey from USMS on this. I said I would go if the pool remained set up as it was for OT's. I am not hot on going to Omaha, but it can't be worse than Indianapolis or San Juan...:bolt:
  • I have never traveled for a masters meet, but the opportunity to swim in this very unique pool (and possibly catch some of the trials) very well may draw me out.
  • This would be awesome, I'd definitely go. I got to go to Trials in 2008 and the setup was very cool, I really wanted to swim in that pool. Plus how many facilities (besides Stanford) have two long course pools and a short course warmup pool all under one roof. Flying in and out, hotels, and rental cars were no trouble at all for me, and I can't imagine USMS Nats will draw as large of a crowd as Trials. USMS should do everything they can to make this happen. It'd be a great opportunity to tap into the whole Olympic mania that happens every 4 years. Maybe USMS can get a bit more presence at Trials this time too. Do it! Please?
  • It'll be even more appealing if USMS/USAS arrange & reserve some number of Trials tickets packages for USMS members to purchase. For me, the timeframe is great as it doesn't conflict with my kids' end of the summer season meets ... unless, of course, my 14 year old goes through some dramatic time drops in the next 2 years and swims at Trials:)
  • This might be especially appealing if Masters Worlds are in late July to August for those who would like to swim at both.
