Anybody going to the SCY meet in Olympia this weekend? If I recall correctly, I entered the 100-200 free, 50-100 ***, and 200 IM, so I'm easy pickings for any gridgers out there. I might need a running start for the 50 ***...:bed:
OK-
I've done the 400 IM time before, before kids!!! And I'm close on the 100 back.
Let's see.
How about if I'm within 10 seconds on the 400IM and 5 on the 100 back?
Unless someone gets sick (besides me, I'm just getting over bronchitis), I am definitely swimming on the 28th.
What say you?
And are you going to nats? We could settle up there :agree:
Sounds good on the gridge. I will not be at Nats in Atlanta. On that same weekend, I might go to the Canadian Nats in Nanaimo BC though. From where I live, it's only a three hour drive and then a ferry ride to get there.
Earlier this season I went 4:53.00 and 1:01.64. Hoping to improve on those times.
Another fun meet in Kirkland today. Megan was there and swam all the 50's as well as the 100 free. I was in the same heat in the 50 back and 50 fly; she beat me by 2+ seconds in each. She went 23.1 in the 50 free, 49.7 in the 100, 26-something in the back, 27.1 in the ***, and 24-something in the fly. I don't know if those are records or not, but that's pretty fast.
Nathan was there too, or was he? Someone named Xlathan Jendrick was entered in the meet. Is he Nathan's evil twin, or is Nathan Xlathan's evil twin? And how does Megan feel about all this??? Or was this just another excellent display of gridgemanship by Nathan, entering the meet under an alias to confuse his foes? Well, consider me confused! I need to sit down. I'm already sitting down!!! :afraid:
Anyway, for Karen's gridge, I went 4:49.11 in the 400 IM and then strangely enough, I repeated my earlier time of 1:01.64 in the 100 back. I need to train more backstroke since I haven't been practicing it much and I'm much slower at it than I was last year. In the 400 IM I experimented with a lunging breaststroke hand recovery as suggested in Ande's thread, after messing around with it in practice for a couple days. I haven't seen my splits yet, so I don't know whether my breaststroke leg was faster than usual or not, but the lunging recovery seemed faster so I think I'll keep at it.
OK, this is just strange. When I typed last week that I had gone 1:01.64 earlier in the season, well that was a typo or a brain fart... or something. I actually went 1:01.91. But then I did swim 1:01.64 today. Psychic premonition? Alternate timeline? Parallel universe? More importantly, have I outgridged myself? I need to sit down again...
Geez. I need to let someone else answer up.
Hmmm, I don't know if I can go 4:59? That'll be tough right now. If I can take my fly out a little faster that would probably help. I go WAY too easy on my first 100. If I go 1:08-1:16-1:28 ('cause my br sucks at the moment)-1:07 that would be 4:59. How come these things always looks do-able written down?! All I can do is try :agree:
I'm pretty sure I can go 1:06 in the back though. I went 30.8 a couple of weeks ago and I was training hard going into that meet :agree:
Great job by the way!
I'll let you know.
:bliss:

Thanks! Don't worry about the calculations, just get in there and swim fast!
Was the Kirkland meet well attended? I was thinking about going, then realized I missed the entry deadline...
Hopefully the meet went well. It's good to see a lot of meets on the schedule this season.

It wasn't a big meet but it was reasonably well-attended. The 50 and 100 frees each had 11 heats. The 400 IM and 200 fly each had 1 heat. The 500 free ended up with 4 heats after the checkin deadline.
Swimming so many SCY meets has been odd. I've done every event this season at least once except the distance frees. And I'm entering the 500 in the next meet. No checkoff challenge here though; I really have no interest in swimming the 1000 or 1650, having done more than my share back in the day.
