500m Endurance

Hi guys, new to the forum. I'm basically a new swimmer though I have swimmed incorrectly all my life, and I'm comfortable in water, but my techinques are sloppy, and I've been looking around online to correct that, and I'm about to start working with a coach. My question is how feasible is it to build my endurance to pass the lifeguarding test by the end of April so I can lifeguard this summer. Last time I was in the pool I could swim about 100 meters before I was totally winded and maxed out.

There is absolutely no reason why you can't swim a continuous 500 by April, the only question is how fast you can swim it. Any good coach can get you swimming a continuous 500 just by improving your technique.
