I'm so thankful to be sleeping in my own bed!:applaud:
Does anybody have any feedback on the Marriott Renaissance Inn? It looks really nice and not too expensive.
Is it nice? And how close is it to the pool?
Since most of my time will be spent at the pool or out tracking forum people, I'm more concerned with distance to the pool. :D
It's not too far from the pool - maybe 15 minute walk. It's right on the edge of a sketchy neighborhood. Fine during the day and fine if you stay north (in Midtown). Don't walk south or directly east on North Ave alone at night.
...Starbucks (where Geek will be buying me a latte).
This is what he said right before I drove him out of the state of NC, tail between legs, tears a' flowing.

You're welcome!

Right now I'm planning to swim my 2 best events, the 200 and 400 IM at Zones.
Afterward, I might stay with my Dad in NC for a week, and then swim the 1 mile, at Lake Norman in Charlotte, NC and try my first OW championship.
Hey Gull-
I just googled this and it's 1.7 mi to the pool. I wouldn't want to walk that.
The shuttle is a good thing :agree:
It's giving you directions to the wrong location (not Tech Parkway where the aquatic center is located).
Thanks Heidi.
I was hoping to hear from someone in the know : )
Where would you recommend? What's the closest hotel to the pool?
That Marriott isn't far and if you are carless, the nice thing is that if you go north into Midtown a few blocks there are a lot of restaurants to choose from.
The Hampton Inn on North Ave is across the street from campus but not as close to restaurants unless you want some wings. Plus fewer people walking around there at night so the Renaissance is probably better.
There are a few hotels along 10th street near the Midtown Marta station as well. You can catch the Stinger shuttle from the Marta station. I know nothing about the schedule - you could probably find info about it on the Ga Tech website.

The only thing you can drive out of state is a tricycle
