Heck, I'd say he should pick on people in his weight class but then that limits him to the lower 20th percentile of 9 year olds.
I'm putting all these hateful comments in my back pocket and using them for training motivation.
For many years I only swam 3 events at Nats. There are only 3 BRs and I didn't want to dilute my focus. Now I enter some fly if the event order is favorable(the event order for fly BR doubles is great at the Puerto Rico meet by the way.)
I generally don't like to sight-see in the midst of a meet, so what else am I going to do?
I sight-see at meets...usually from the benches and in the direction of the females...ladies keep up the good work
Why? Why is there this need to fill all six slots?
.
Because some people are anal about swimming the max. If usms allowed them to swim 12 events, they would do it to "justify the meet entry, travel expense, blah, blah blah"
If you don't want to swim 6 events or even 3 events, don't do it. Swim the events that you want to swim. If someone tells you that you should be swimming the max number or more than 3 events, that this is your nationals that you will swim what you want too.

I do think there's a little more to it than that. If you are having a great meet, but only entered three events you might be disappointed you didn't swim more. I always feel like it's sort of "wasting" a golden opportunity to swim fast in that situation.
And, of course, if you enter any events that require checkin you can always choose not to swim them without the guilt of leaving an open lane.

Also, its a 4-day meet. I swim at least 3-5 event (plus relays) in a 2-day meet.

If one only wants to swim 2-3 events, then that is all they should swim. If I entered a meet, swam 2 events, had a great meet, I for one wouldn't be disappointed in not entering anything else. If gbrain only wants to swim 3 events, that should be enough for him.

Stud, some times it goes both ways.
Wookie, I'm so sorry to hear about your hand. You will be missed.
Aint' comin to zones or even nationals at this point. Got too much pain in my forearm and fingers. Most of my training right now is doing long kick sets, with extended underwater dolphin kicks.
I can't believe my eyes, say it ain't so!!!
