City, Pool
Longhorn New Year's Classic jan 2010
Suit: PRO Jammer (unshaved)
Pool: Austin, TX swim Center
50 fr 22.48
50 bk 25.15
Longhorn New Year's Classic Jan 2009
Suit: Full B70
Pool: Austin, TX swim Center
50 fr 21.99
50 bk 24.64
so the difference for me in 50's is around half a second
I think it might be more for breastroke & it's likely to be more for longer distances
How do your times compare?

Great idea Ande.
5/7/09: SCY Nationals
Suit: LZR fullbody
Pool: Clovis N HS
50 Free: 22.09
100 Free: 48.11
200 Free: 1:46.20
12/5/09: Colony Zones SCM Champs
Suit: TYR jammers
Pool: Flushing Meadows, NY
(times converted to yards using USA calculator)
50 Free: 22.51 (0.84sec/100 diff, 1.9% increase)
100 Free: 49.50 (1.39sec/100 diff, 2.9% increase)
200 Free: 1:52.32 (3.06sec/100 diff, 5.8% increase)
Based on the 50 free times, this is about par with Ande's experience of about 0.5 sec/50 (0.42 sec for me). What I found interesting was the longer races seem to be impacted more than the 50s.
*Thoughts on how to get back down to these times in Atlanta:
1) Improve kick- understand that weak kickers benefit more from the suits (New Years goal is to get below 1:10 for 100yd kick).
2) Don't focus on freestyle events- branch out and do more stroke training.
3) Be more fit in general, which includes more cross-training (biking, weights) to reduce flab.
