Due to some recent questions at our YMCA I wonder what people think:
The Suit Dryer (Water Extractor) is only for swim suits.
Anything that is damp or sweaty can be put in the Suit Dryer (i.e. sweaty tee shirt, sweaty socks, etc.)
I quit using suit dryers after I witnessesed a man who finished his gym work out, showered in his underwear then put the tidy-not-so-whities in the suit dryer to dry them and reuse.

I find it amusing that most of the horror stories involve how men are using the suit dryers. :D I've not witnessed any of the ladies in our locker room using the suit dryer for anything other than its intended purpose. But, several of you have raised some really good points as to what could be taking place in the family and men's locker rooms.
I nearly always go home immediately after swimming so there's really no reason to use the suit dryer. My suit drip-dries just fine haning in the shower at home. If I had to go to work after swimming and my wet suit would be sitting in the car for hours I might think about using the dryer, but after reading this thread I think I'd prefer the mildew.
I just wring out my polyester suit and let it drip dry.I always lose them before they wear out so this seems to work and I don't have any commingling issues.I would never put a meet suit in a spinner anyway.
I have never seen a suit dryer. Do they have them in California?
Why not just rinse and hang it up in your shower at home or the car during work. The 85 degree weather always drys the suits pretty quick!
Brett - the dryer is a stainless steel basket that spins & removes excessive water with centrifugal force – I should have used the correct terminology “Swimsuit Water Extractor”. This is very convenient for those of us that go from the pool directly to work with the swim bag in the trunk & is especially helpful during the winter months. Many times at the end of the day when I get home & hang the suits up they are frozen solid (try putting on an ice cold speedo some time that was left in the trunk overnightL). They thaw & dry much faster each night with the excessive moisture removed via the suit dryer.
haha! I agree with Debaru! I think that is a problem in the guy's locker room.
Women have more sense....

Right there with you, Swimmy! I never use them anyway. They wreak havoc on suit material.

One story I heard that has stopped me from using the spinners, was putting swim diapers in the spinners so they could be used again.

I never like using those dryers to begin with, it stretches out my suits that much faster
