It is in the FINA site, (public release #2) :
Lausanne (SUI) January 16, 2010 – Under the presidency of Dr. Julio C. Maglione, the first 2010 FINA Bureau Meeting took place on January 14-15 in Bangkok (THA) and approved the following main decisions:
.....
14. Swimwear:
....
- Masters: the same swimwear regulations as per pool swimming will be applied from January 1, 2010.
Also in the release we find that:
....
4. Allocation of upcoming FINA events:
....
- FINA World Masters Championships 2012 – Italy (Riccione)
....
That's it people, now let's move ahead.
I wish we could say that it's "over" but if I recall USMS needs to act again.... By the way, what does it mean that Masters swimwear will be the same as "per pool swimming". Isn't "pool swimming" what we do too?
Also, I love how it's the last thing in the release. We're nearly an afterthought!
(I edited my post because as first written, it was unnecessarily inflamatory. No reason to throw fuel on the fire here....)
As I understand it FINA rules are the default position for USMS.Until USMS says differently FINA applies.USMS has already said that this doesn't apply to the 1 hr postal swim but unless USMS says something it applies immediately to other pool events(and evidently has since 1/1/10,so anyone who swam a meet in the first 2 weeks of the year will just have to get their time machine out and go back and swim them in legal suits.)
