Wow!! Borrowed the kid's longboard skateboard and used it to duplicate the swim stroke and it is unbelivable in demonstrating instantly how the swim stroke works. Using common leather garden gloves, you can reach out with your arms, grasp the pavement with your hands and fling yourself forward. Your lats, traps, delts and trunk really get a workout. For the price, this is the perfect poor man's land base swim trainer. I wonder if anyone else has used skateboards in their swim training? Yes, and please wear a helmet and stick to smooth surfaces or you'll fall off and scrape yourself. Good fun though. Impress your coach with your newly developed power and technique.
About 27 years ago they converted our swim pool to a water park in Denver. For some dryland, we layed on pallettes with wheels and pumped our hands in a swimming like stroke up the 8 or 9 ramps to the top of the slides (sadly we did not get to slide down). Maybe that's why I am so awesome.:)
