Just a reminder that as of Sept 23, 2009 the "distance" Relay Events for Long and Short Course Meters are eligible for FINA Masters World Records. These events include the 400 Free, 400 Medley and 800 Free for Men, Women and Mixed. Standard World Record documentation is required.
nice, now the hard part, finding a masters meet that offers those events. in my 3 years of swimming masters I've only ever seen the 4x50 medley and free relays.
Yes, the swims must be done after the Sept 23 2009 date.
So we'll just have to see how our U.S. National Records stand up to the FINA World Records...
Now I bet some of you wish you had stayed or come to play with us on relay day in Indy!!
Come to Long Beach, California, December 4,5,6, that meet always has the 400 and 800 relalys. It was also the site of the '68 (and maybe one other) US Olympic trials. It is also one of two SCM meets in the US that can be considered a quasi- national championship meet (as you know, we don't have a SCM national championship meet).
Walt,
Do relays have to be done after 9/23/09 or will relay times done earlier count?
ie I swam on the Men's 160 - 199 SCM 400 Medley Relay National record of 3:50.93* on 11-15-08
Will it count or do we need to swim it again at another meet?
Ande
How will they determine the first records ? The fastest time at the end of the season ?
My sources say first win after 9/23/09 in an age group = first record. These same sources have recently asked for my birth certificate or passport. :lmao:
Seeing as how your UCLA meet this coming weekend does not seem to offer a 4 x 200m relay, my World Record Holder status, if confirmed, may last all the way into November.
