Does anyone have recommendation for reliable small watertight cases or pouches that you can bring with you while swimming, which can hold ID and credit cards, money, keys, and watch? (Cell phone may be a little too big and heavy to swim with.)
(Btw I've heard about the "gel" that swimmers consume; how and where do they carry them?)

I use ziplock bags. I have a stop watch, a gymboss, paper workouts and USMS registration have a bag. Each are completely usable without having to remove them.

gels go right in the suit. (as do the empty packets)
key gets tied to suit string.
watch goes on wrist.
money and cc's aren't needed.
you can write your SS# on your person (if its about identification)
Waterproof cases are easy to find at most shops (such as REI) that sell kayaking or similar equipment. Marine supply stores sell them. And Fry's (electronics) sells a variety for use with electronics.
The energy "gels" are sold in fitness stores, bike shops, and grocery stores. The Powerbar brand gels are easy to find in Austin grocery stores right near regular Powerbars.
SCUBA diving shops are a good source for waterproof cases. I have a little clear plastic one, about the size of a pack of cards, that's just right for my electronic car door key.

These are great places to check. If you don't have one around, most major outdoor stores will have something. You should definitely check the reviews of anything you buy though, as some items on the market are not as water tight as they claim. You can also check the company that makes pelican cases. I am not sure if they have anything that small for swimmers, but I have always been happy with their waterproof camera cases.
