I'm looking for a site for people who love swimming, are good swimmers but do not want to do competition swimming, especially a site that includes discussions by people over fifty.:cane::) Thank-you:)

  • I'm 58 and a slower swimmer than those who say they're slow. :) (I felt it a triumph just to break 2 mins. in the 100 free.) :cane: Yet I still enjoy competing... with myself mainly, even while racing with others. I have tried a variety of events, including a Senior Games 100 IM. (I WILL NOT tell you my time for that, but let's just say it was ... an interesting experience.) My longest race was a 5.25 mile open water swim two years ago, which gave me the rather frightening revelation that I could get into this long distance open water swimming... although I've got much to learn in that department, and I'm just in awe of Ahelee Sue Osborn's English Channel swim! Once a few years ago, when I was running at my local track, I was talking with a younger woman. I don't know how this comment came up in the conversation, but she said, "you look good for your age." "How old do you think I am?" I asked her. She studied me a moment and then said uncertainly, "um... like 30?" Flattery will get you everywhere. :D
