There's also Harold Holt - he was a Prime Minister of Australia in the sixties. He was a surfer and an open water swimmer, but one day misjudged the surf and drowned. www.smh.com.au/.../1145126044958.html Australians later built a swimming pool and named it after him: www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/.../1863-harold-holt-swim-centre.asp
