The 2009 World Champs in Rome will surely go down in history as the meet in which the most world records fell. By the third day I had already lost count of how many were broken. In the end it made more sense to count the ones that hadn't been broken.
On the men's side, only six out of a total of 20 WR's remained untouched: 50m Free, 1500 Free, 100m Back, 50m Fly, 400 IM and the 4 x 100 Free relay
The women were even more remarkable. They left only 3 records standing: 800m Free, 1500m Free and the 400 IM
Put another way, 31 of a total of 40 records were broken. That's almost an 80% success rate. Truly extraordinary. Perhaps it was all a case of: "When in Rome..."

I'm surprised the men's 1500 record wasn't broken. Good to see Grant's name still in the books.
