Cesar Cielo made it about halfway through the Brazilian National Anthem today before he started crying. If that were you up there receiving a GOLD Medal and having your flag raised and your country's national anthem played, do you think you would also get emotional?
This whole "hide yr emtions" thing is pretty tired.
And it's even a bigger thing among younger guys. I teach in an urban high school and the yearbook pictures of the guys all look like mug-shots. No one wants to be seen smiling and happy. At the senior sports banquet our school gives out an award to a senior that EVERY kid, no matter how tough, wants. Yet when the kid gets that award, even though he worked like a dog to get it and he is ready to explode with pride, he walks to the stage scowling like he's an his way to sentencing.
It's just too sad for words.
