college swimming - scouting

I know that this is a touchy topic for some, but I wanted some help from those that know. we have a 16yr old on our team, most of his times can be seen here www.swimrankings.net/index.php not all of his results are posted, because not all meets send the results to the site. The times from this past weekend are not up yet. He's a butterfly specialist that can swim free and IM. LCM times from this past week 100fly :56.24 200fly 2:06.61 100 free 53:95 200 free 1:56.38 400 free 4:05.49 400 IM 4:49.25 anyways, I was wondering what types of schools or conferences would be interested in a swimmer like him. He's got 3 more years of HS and has has signicant time drops the past two years in the 200 fly. from 2:18 in 2007 to 2:12 in 2008 to this past weekend 2:06.61.

thanks for the feedback! When is it that most colleges like to know who is coming the following year. is it winter or spring? I ask because we usually have our seniour short course nats in Nov and the junior scm nats in feb. his short course times are at the same level of his long course times. he's average off the blocks. this past meet I saw his reaction times and they were around mostly betwen .72-.76. and he's long and fast off the walls. I know his parents are really interested in his options. college tuition in sweden is free, but the experience of living in the US for 4 yrs is inviting. The kids just started there 3 weeks summer break from swimming, and we'll have a new headcoach with NCAA swimming experience, so I am sure she will have lots to talk about with him in the coming 2-3 yrs. Coaches like to know earlier what students they are bringing in. Im not sure how the rules plays out for international students, but my college liked to sign kids in the first signing period which was right around october november if I remember correctly. Its not a huge problem if he doesnt sign in the first signing period, but it kind of secures more money. As the season goes on, they get more verbal commitments, less money available. But with his times now, Im pretty sure as soon as coaches are allowed to contact him he won't have many problems getting offers.
