Now, this is very cool. Google and LIFE Magazine now have an online photo archive of images taken for LIFE magazine.
They have a bunch of old swimming and Olympic photos.
To view, go to:
images.google.com/.../life
There is a search box. I have searched on the following terms so far:
Swimming
Swim (provides different results than the previous term)
Olympics
Olympic (again, provides different results than the previous term)
The web site says that a lot of these photos were never published. LIFE must have done a story about Ohio State swimming, as there are a lot of photos from a 1953 Ohio State swim meet.
Note, too, that you can search the LIFE archives from any Google image search by adding the phrase “source:life” to the end of the search. For example: swimming source:life
