Why does it appear many masters swimmers are taking USMS so seriously?
What's the difference between the typical "selfish train all day", "it's all about me" triathlete and a masters swimmer who seriously trains as hard as they can.... particularly to focus on setting masters records?
Seems like there is a growing parallel between triathletes and many masters swimmers these days.
Isn't it just "masters swimming" for health and fun in the end?
Does a masters record really mean that much?
Is this a good thing? ..... or a turn off for those who look on with amusement.
These threads are what we make of them...they constantly morph from what the original poster may have intended. That's why it's important that we make clear what our own "thoughts" on the topic may be...I steered in a direction that resonated with me and that is that there are some very over the top ego's out there and I take pleasure in mocking them...maybe it was not the original meaning but thats where I have based my comments from.
As for Gull...he's a "master-baiter" who certainly enjoys what is going on here...and more importantly he hates that an old/fat/beer drinking ass like me likes to on occasion swim his events.
Really? I was under the impression you had hatched up the whole thread with the bipolar Mr. Negative Positive. And I'm not sure I explicitly called you an elitist; you must have internalized that. I did give you grief over every conceivable little thing. As a master baiter yourself, you know you enjoy it.
