USA Swimming Seeks Support For Swimsuit Ban
By Amy Shipley
Swimming will attempt to rally international support for an immediate ban on swimsuits that extend past the shoulders and knees unless the world governing body of swimming (FINA) in the next two weeks provides a specific plan for reining in suits, USA Swimming President Jim Wood said Wednesday night. “We need feedback from FINA right now,” Wood said.

A complete ban on swimsuits? Wow, I'm going to have to revise my mental image of USA swimming officials as a bunch of prudes...!
Ha ha! That was my first response when I saw the thread title! Dang, now my tan lines will show!
I get it, swim suits are for decency.
If FINA & uss swimming took a firm stance on their own rule, they wouldn't have allowed suits to have any fabric beyond what's necessary for decency. the extra unnecessary fabric is "device that helps our speed, pace or buoyancy during races"
102.15 Disqualifications
102.15.9 Swimmers are not permitted to wear or use any device or substance to help their speed, pace or buoyancy during a race.
Though my stance is
wear the fastest sensible legal suit.
Which to me is the Blue Seventy Nero Comp
Mens Full Body
Womens Full body
Dude, this is a Masters swimming forum. USA swimming does not dictate to us. We generally follow FINA rules and USA swimming rules with exceptions. We decide what the exceptions are.
Unless the majority of the people posting here are high caliber USA swimmers, this is a tempest in a teacup.
USA swimming is heavily sponsored by Speedo. Read into that what you will.
The uproar about suits is not over. I would recommend that everyone take a chill pill and enjoy racing in whatever suit you desire that is currently legal. It will doubtless remain so for the rest of the year, at least.
