Would have FINA, on there own accord, ever brought this whole thing up if the Blue Seventy was not longer lasting, possibly faster at nearly half the price of the Speedo LZR?

Trick question.The LZR was already generating controversy,but I think it was the Jaked that pushed it over the edge more than the B-70.
