temp = 70.3 (nice!)
70.3 seems too warm to wear a wetsuit for the better part of 2 hours under the sun. Unfortunately, you can't really take it off half way and ditch it.
Do you all take any power gels or hydration with you somehow?
Congrats to the top five in this race. Anyone who can turn out 21 minute mile splits in that chop is crazy strong. I'm thinking WAY more weight lifting next year and leg work. By mile 4 I was very tired and had to dig pretty deep just to stay in a competitive frame of mind.

i think the water was warmer than that, and it has always been in the mid 70's every year i have done it.
i took two endurolytes just before the start and tucked a couple of hammer gels in my jammers. the plan was to take one at the half way mark and the second around 3.5 miles, but i was feeling good the whole way and didn't want to break my stride even for a couple of seconds.... finished 5th nekked (50th O/A)

impressive swims, but take note:
erin luley, first place woman - no wetsuit! 1:42.11
and 7th place over all also sans rubber.
- Thanks for the link, Chris.
- I have found a little additional strength is beneficial in those rough conditions. But when the strength fails, a higher rate of turnover is the next best thing.
- Erin had a very impressive swim.
