thanks good luck at eagleman...(you are doing that one?)
No, b/c the entry deadline is early -- I think in August sometime? -- and it closes out fairly quickly. I gambled on being able to do the Bay Swim and lost. From now on I'll take the sure thing, I think.
thats what folks say every year.... still on the event day, 90% don rubber. its a mystery to me.
I did that one year when it was too warm and I regretted it. I broiled.
It's hard to give up that competitive advantage, though (not that I'd win it, or anything. But still)
Clearly keeping warm isn't the main reason most people wear them. And being too warm isn't enough to dissuade them.
Good luck to everyone, wish I could be there. (Stupid lottery.)

If you want to do a low-key 5 miler, consider the Swim For Life in Chestertown, MD in July. The field is small, the people are pleasant and the course is beautiful.

Great swim this year. Nice temperature too. Was it just me or were the waves much bigger than last year? They seemed huge to me out there in the middle.
I also ran into a large dead animal. My hand hit a furry hip bone and I didn;t know what it was until the smell hit me....there was a slick of rotting flesh around the thing. Nice. It's like the frickin Ganges River out there. Maybe it was person. Who knows.
How'd everyone do?
