Just Curious...

I'm wondering how many swimmers out there treat outer ear infections themselves (without a Dr. visit). I haven't gone to the Dr. for an outer ear infection since I was little. When I was swimming in high school and college I would use straight isopropyl alcohol before and after swimming if my ear hurt. It would always clear up in one or two days. I've sworn by that ever since. A couple of years ago, I mentioned that to a pharmacist while picking up a prescription med for my child's ear infection. The pharmacist seemed horrified that I would even think about using straight isopropyl alcohol on my child's ear infection. So I never have. Anyone else out there who has treated a sore ear this way??? I swear I learned this technique from a coach somewhere along the way...

I've been experiencing alot of ear aches in the last couple months and being unemployed at the moment with no insurance I've had no choice but to treat it myself. Basically I've just been using the Swimmer's Ear product after each swim/shower and making sure I get it dry. I've also used some Microbial Isoprobyl Alcohol on Q-tips, and even some Hydrogen Peroxide. If you do a search on home remedies you'll find a host of things from alcohol to different oils extracts.
