Any East coast swimmers in outdoor pool yet?

I must be getting old, I have only entered my outdoor lap pool once since it opened on Memorial Day weekend. The water was 74, but the air temp was 80. Nights have dipped into the 40's and this morning, I planned to give it a try, however, it was 64 degrees and very windy, cloudy and the water temp was only 70. I should mention that no one was in the pool either. Every summer I run maniacly to the sports stores in hopes of finding a wetsuit that feels NOTHING like a wetsuit and come home empty handed. So, who's swimming outdoors now, with or without a wetsuit, and what are your water temps?
  • Here in Cincinnati, we have an outdoor (heated to about 80) pool that opened third week in May. I went there on 5:30 a.m. the first day it was open. Air temp was 45 so lifeguard told me it was too cold?! So I had to swim inside. When I was in Orlando in January, I found one of those irregular shaped Disney resort pools, that I could take a 25 yard line across (based on stroke count). Water was 82. Air was 35. Very, very nice.
  • How cold was your pool? Outdoor? it had to be in the high 60s. When I got it, it was brutal, but after a while, it was fine today anyway.
  • Lucky east coast people - so many indoor pools. It doesn't exactly get super cold along the CA coast, but I still have to put up with outdoor swimming in 30-40 degree F weather. Luckily pool stays around 78, so I survive.

wow, you are a trooper. wow! People didn't get in the pool today because they thought it was too cold. Of course, that is nothing compared to what temperatures you have to deal with. How cold was your pool? Outdoor?
  • In Atlanta, Emory opens its outdoor pool on April 1. The water at that time was heated and the pool was kept covered overnight, but they have since turned off the heater and the water is quite warm on its own. Actually starting to get a little too warm. In April we had some very chilly nights so while the water temp may have been around 80 degrees there were a few early mornings where it was about 45 degrees outside. Getting to the changing rooms at the end of the workout was like running on ice!
  • I enjoyed swimming at Emory last Sunday while in Atlanta visiting my son. I was the lady with the Colorado cap. I did not get to meet you. I swim indoors year round. The Denver U pool is long course in the AM and all day Friday and SUnday. Do not want to get too much sun on my back at high altitudes. There are several outdoor pools in the Denver area but I like the DU pool the best. The temp in Denver is in the 40's today...glad to be indoors! At least it is not snowing in Denver...maybe in the mountains!
  • Does it count if I open all the doors to my home pool on the really hot days? And turn the fan on inside? It counts if you turn the fan off!:)
