YouTube - 50m Free Carlisle 16/5/09I swam 2 massive P.B.s at a meet last weekend. Went 25.38 in 50m SCM Free (from 26.03) and 56.38(26.78) in 100m SCM Free (from 58.75) :applaud: The following video is of my 50 swim and I would appreciate some constructive critisism please. (Lane 4) My start and underwater was good (5sdk) went 13 strokes out, 17 strokes back. Only 1sdk on my turn (and I was actually thinking "oh no, what will Ande think of that!?) Breathed 1 out 2 back. I still feel my stroke is slow. I have really been trying to increase my turnover, working on the straight arm catch we are all talking about now. www.youtube.com/watch I look forward to your comments.

I am doing a track start. I'm suprised you say I'm slow off the block, I actually think my start is the best part of my race. On the occasion that I've swam in a pool where they show reaction times I've been between 0.78 - 0.85 secs - which I don't think is too bad. My stroke definately stalls when I breathe, and I definately tie up towards the end - You should see the last 15m of the 100! Thanks for the comments guys. Keep them coming.:) I don't think you're slow getting off probably not as fast as you can be though. In a 50 that is already pretty fast you're going to have to grab every tenth from anywhere you can get it. I don't know how reaction time is measured. Is it the time it takes to actually react (first slight movement) to the start or the time from the start until the weight is removed from the block? I honestly don't know. If it is the former then a quick reaction time doesn't necessarily mean you are getting off the blocks quickly. If it is the latter then .8 is pretty good. The best are around .6-.7 I think.
