I imagine this could give you an advantage. Maybe the next controversial swimming aid would be a kit to grow webs.

Had afriend who had webbed hands and feet. His arms were very short. He swam on our relay team and was a really fast 50 guy. I also had another friend who was blind and he was a very fast 50 and 100 free swimmer he also swam on our relays as a leadoff swimmer. It was strange to see me racing these two guys. Me holding the blind swimmer's hand up to the starting block and seeing a 6 foot 3 inch guy next to my friend with the webbed toes and hands who was 4' 11" tall.
