Hi all, just "discovered" swimming about 6 months ago. Needless to say, I was terrible at it. I swim in a 25 yard pool, am 38 yrs old. I've improved somewhat and can swim 100yd repeats in 1:25 followed by :15-:20 rest. My best time for a 50yd sprint is :30 seconds. The master's program where I swim is completely incompatible with my schedule. I'm finding that I enjoy sprints more than anything else and am considering competing in a 50 or 100 free later in the year. I know a coach, but he's primarily interested in open water/long distance training. He's helped me a lot with my stroke but I could use more direction as far as workouts. Can anyone suggest a plan or course of action I should take? I'm just not sure where I "fit in" or how to plan for my goals.

There must be other teams that will offer a time good for you. It seems as if you are not that bad to start with, so find a way to get training. Good luck
