Hey guys it's been a long time, my last log in was back in october 2008. been swimming a lot since then and now I come back with another question...
I've been doing 3000 meters everytime I swim, 1000 meters per set and i do each set for 30 mins. I am now 31 yrs. old and I was just wondering if I lessen my time per set, would that mean that I am swimming at race pace at my own pace? 'coz basically 1000 meters for 30 mins. for me is just a regular/relaxed pace.
how fast or slow is 1000 meters per 30 mins. based on your experience?

some people say you should swim 30 minutes and then take your average per 100, but I think it works well enough if you swim a 800m and then take your average from that swim.
say it takes you 22:00 --> 2:45/100 then you could try to make your intervals 3:00 to start with.
or you could hold your 50s at 1:20 or so. it's really up to you and how much you are willing to push your body.
I got stuck into thinking that I could only swim 100's on 1:20 but in the last 2-3 months I have started to realize that I can swim 1:08 if I want to, so my start times have gone from 1:40 to 1:30 to 1:25 depending on how many 100's I'm swimming. I can hold 40s /50m up to 800m
okay now i have basis :)
