Hey guys it's been a long time, my last log in was back in october 2008. been swimming a lot since then and now I come back with another question... I've been doing 3000 meters everytime I swim, 1000 meters per set and i do each set for 30 mins. I am now 31 yrs. old and I was just wondering if I lessen my time per set, would that mean that I am swimming at race pace at my own pace? 'coz basically 1000 meters for 30 mins. for me is just a regular/relaxed pace. how fast or slow is 1000 meters per 30 mins. based on your experience?

  • some people say you should swim 30 minutes and then take your average per 100, but I think it works well enough if you swim a 800m and then take your average from that swim. say it takes you 22:00 --> 2:45/100 then you could try to make your intervals 3:00 to start with. or you could hold your 50s at 1:20 or so. it's really up to you and how much you are willing to push your body. I got stuck into thinking that I could only swim 100's on 1:20 but in the last 2-3 months I have started to realize that I can swim 1:08 if I want to, so my start times have gone from 1:40 to 1:30 to 1:25 depending on how many 100's I'm swimming. I can hold 40s /50m up to 800m
