Hi, Everyone
I'm a relatively new swimmer (about three months) and I had a very good breaststroke to start with (my first 50 time was about 36 seconds). After training for a few months my hip joint started to crack on the kick right after I rotated my feet in for the insweep of the kick. After cracking for a while without pain it's started to hurt:badday:. It's gotten worse and I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if they know what it is and if there is anything that I can do about it or if I have to stop swimming breaststroke:afraid:
Anytime I see the words "cracking", "clicking" or "popping" along with "joint" and "pain", I always suggest getting to a sports therapist for a proper assessment.
I presume you have already had someone look at your kick, and it is legal. Regardless, see someone who can assess what is actually happening with your hip.
I agree with this, but I also suspect your kick is too wide. You talk about the insweep, and there is an insweep, but it is a function of your feet starting the kick outside your knees, not of kicking out and then in.Try doing some breaststroke with a pull buoy between your knees. If this doesn't hurt or click then you can probably swim breaststroke if you can remember to not kick out and in,but kick back.
