Michael Phelps and a bong? Is there any truth to this?

Did Gary Hall and Summer Sanders(allegedly, I heard this back in the day) get three month suspensions for their pot use. Well, I think that USOC is doing this for PR reasons just to please those parents who are in a hissy fit over a bong hit! Plus, It is not like Phelps is in top notch shape(for Phelps) anyway. Well, at least, World Champs will get some ratings due to this drama. The non-swimming community will watch to see if he will prevail or fail.

He was suspended for 3 months by USA swimming, effective today. So he just wont be able to compete?

I can't get it to open. But I just read somewhere else that Phelps was suspended for 3 months? "COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Swimming has reprimanded Michael Phelps under its Code of Conduct by withdrawing financial support and the eligibility to compete for a period of three months effective today, February 5. This is not a situation where any anti-doping rule was violated, but we decided to send a strong message to Michael because he disappointed so many people, particularly the hundreds of thousands of USA Swimming member kids who look up to him as a role model and a hero. Michael has voluntarily accepted this reprimand and has committed to earn back our trust."
