Seriously Carlos...your rantings draw out the cliquish yukster in people... I've lurked these boards w/o posting long enough to know that certain ppl are cliquish regardless of whether I post or not. I go months w/o posting, and every time I lurk and/or post, they're doing the same thing. I bet I am faster than you would have been after a 25 year layoff! :D Why are you quoting me? You should quote geek. It's not the first time that he/they have tried to talk smack about swimming w/ me. I've just never called them on it. So now I'm calling them on it.

I'll put my top 10 times in a brutal age group up against yours any day of the week. Calling me out on what? The only ppl that talk smack to my face w/ impugnity are those in the upper echelons of the sport. Here's the thing, Fortress: most ppl that beat me don't talk smack out of respect for a good competitor. I only talk smack to my friends and guys who are at my level and w/ whom I have that type of a relationship. You don't know me, and yet you sit here and attack my swimming on more than one occasion. He would have fared better with the media and most Americans had he gotten on NATIONAL TELEVISION...wagged his finger at the camera and said...I DID NOT HAVE RELATIONS WITH THAT JOINT! Then...everyone would just ignore it.... The FACT is he did MORE than most of the sports "role models" have EVER done in the past. Kind of dumb to be smoking it and possibly decreasing your endurance - if you are eating a zillion calories a day anyway, you could put it in brownies instead. Same net effect, although slower. So Phelps gets to keep his some of his most prized sponsors, eh? Lucky him. Do you think if this were November 2004 and Phelps only had his six golds instead of "greatest olympian ever" title that most of his sponsors would still keep him after a picture like this? Was four years ago a completely different era, already? Food for thought.
