Do I suck?

Hey there. I used to swim in a club between age 8-13, but quitted after that. Now I'm almost 17, and recently I restarted to swim because I'm following a beachrescuer course. We need to swim a time of 4:30 in 200metres (swimming style is free of choice, I picked freestyle=front crawl) for our practical examination. Easy, right? In this morning's lesson I swam a time of 3:20, which means I should pass easily. But is this actually a good time compared to you guys, and compared to the average of my age? I'd like to know. side note: This time was swam with clothes on (that means I was both wearing long pants and a shirt with long sleeves). Also consider that I wasn't able to use flip turns, but had to tab the side of the pool, place my feet against the wall, turn and push off. Furthermore, what are your times?

Perhaps the real suckage is that the person drowning should have taken swim lessons so they wouldn't depend on someone else saving them. true, but many programs are being cut. my HS required everyone to have a semester of phys ed in the pool..... i'm sure they don't anymore.
