B70 Customer Service

I reported earlier that my B70 Nero comp legskin developed a tear. I bought it the last day of LCM Nats in Portland on August 17. I swam 2 events in it there, one meet and 5 events in November, and finally 4 events at a meet in December. At the last meet a teammate noticed a tear developing. The hole looked like a seam or lamination in the fabric was letting go. The attached thumbnail shows the tear, which was above the stitched crotch seam and below the zipper. The stated warranty is 90 days, so I was about 3 weeks outside that when the tear developed. I am 6'2" and 195, and the suit was a 30, so I was more or less within the guidelines. I also bought the size recommended by the vendor, Kastaway. I didn't warm up or practice in the suit at all, and was pretty careful putting it on. When I looked at the tear closely, I didn't see any sign that I'd snagged it on something or torn it somehow. I sent an email to blueseventy in Seattle, got a prompt response from Shawn Lucas and (indirectly) Roque Santos, and after I sent the picture, an RA#. I sent the torn suit back, and today received a brand spanking new replacement under warranty via UPS, no charge. Excellent customer service, gentlemen, thank you! I've mentioned before that I love the suit. I did not like my FS Pro full suit for breaststroke, but the B70, even with the full leg, works for all strokes. I'm even happier with it now.
  • Hey did you score your size 28, Karen? I heard someone who ordered that size months ago was told "back order." I was lucky to get a brand new one for $60 from a high school team thanks to a friend. :) OK, I e-mailed B70. Within about 10 min I had a response telling me to send it back with a return number. I'm assuming I'll get another one, but they didn't say. I'll send it off today, and let you know :agree:

Seriously, had I known, I would have kept the suit with the rip and given it to someone else to use with a brief!

    What percentage of the world records would you predict will be broken in 2010? As it stands every single world record, men's and women's, LCM and SCM, except the 1500s, was set in 2008 or 2009. In fact only 2 men's and 3 women's LCM records date back to 2008.     I've wondered if that were the case, but it is still too early to tell, IMO. And the record Phleps broke was from 2006...not exactly the height of the tech suit craze. Yup. The older record was set in jammers.

    Dear all Wow, looks like some of you have had a great experience and others left wondering if we have gone home for the day. The team in house are completely rammed with orders and buy backs etc (not that this is any excuse for bad comms and service) but we will endeavor to deal with you as we have always, in the best manner possible. If our efforts fail then for this we offer a big apology. We are struggling to get a good quantity of suits flowing to us from the factories right now, and with demand so high we are doing all we can to send out replacements etc. If we mess up it is not deliberate, it's because we are perhaps trying too hard to get suits out the door quickly etc, but i say this not as an excuse but more a reason. The shoot out prizes caught us off guard, and in particular myself as i was responsible for sending out the vouchers....so my hands are in the air and you may fire!!!!   • Am I the only person who missed that the 50% off offer on a new neroTX ended March 15th? I was told in mid-January when I tried to take advantage of the offer that I had to wait until February 15th. I had no idea and was never told the offer would expire one month later. I missed it by 8 days. I purchased my B70 last year when things looked pretty grim for them, based on the promise of 50% off a new compliant product. I feel a bit duped. If I'm one of a handful of people who missed this, shame on me but if I'm not, shame on B70 for biting the hand that feeds it.

    Out of curiosity, did anyone continue producing tech suits after the youth/elite ban? Even without the Masters ban would they have soon become impossible to get? Honestly I think that FINIS has continued to produce their suits. This is PURE opinion but it is based on the fact that they have had 3 rounds of $20 blowout sales. Suits that were out of stock have come back only to go out of stock again. I will say, though, that it appears now that they have truly run out. I guess we'll see.
