swim cap allergies??

Does anyone have info on allergic skin reactions to latex or silicone swim caps? This year I started getting a rashlike outbreak on my forehead at the line for my swim cap. Thanks ya'll H :bow:

    You may be sensitive to some funk growing on the cap if you've had it for a while.

Thanks ya'll H It could be a latex sensitivity or to the talcum powder that's used to keep the latex from sticking to itself. Latex allergies are somewhat common, not sure what kind of powder may have been used. I personally stick with silicone but just because they're more comfortable. Latex caps tend to pull my hair.

    Does it matter if you are wearing latex or silicon? If you are getting the same reaction no matter the material, then it might be a heat + sweat + constricted space problem. Simply lifting the edge of the cap and running a wet hand along your forehead between sets might solve the problem. My wife has a latex allergy. She discovered this when wearing latex gloves in biology lab. After lab, her hands would swell up and turn bright red from the wrists down. If this sounds like what is happening to your head when you wear a latex cap, you are stuck wearing silicon caps. My wife wears dive socks under her swim fins so she can use standard swim fins without skin contact.
