Has everyone gotten these new "Member News" emails? I just got one today, and it seems to be a new thing for 2009. I'd like to say to USMS that this is great! I love it. Please keep it up.

Obviously for those who compete, the membership is mandatory.
But as you said, the membership benefits for the non-competitor go well beyond the magazine subscription.
Having contact with like minded swimming enthusiasts, links to articles, discount suppliers, upcoming meets, out of town places to swim, coaching advise, sample workouts...the list goes on.
