Does membership with USA Swimming (not USMS) require any sort of attachment to a specific club? Or, in other words, can I join USAS and go swim whatever meets they have as an "unattached" swimmer. The master's program I swim with only had USMS affiliation.
On a similar note, do times achieved in a USMS meet have any sort of merrit for making Q times for something like a Grand Prix meet?
When I do USA Swimming meets, do I give the this form to the meet director at the USAS meet or what? How do you know if a pool's measurement is already on file. Just wondering what to do before I do any USAS meets.
plus a copy of a valid pool measurement form if not already on file
The Top Ten person from your LMSC should be able to check if it is on file. Do this before the meet.
Also, if the meet has movable bulkheads, the measurements need to be verified (for each session) even if the "permanent" measurements are on file.
The information is at this link:
www.usms.org/.../lmsc_hb_rectab.pdf
The relevant part about swimming in a course with a movable bulkhead is on page 4, at the bottom:
"Pools with a moveable bulkhead should be measured as a permanent course and kept on file. Then, at the conclusion of each session, a responsible person must confirm the length by re-measuring the two outside lanes and a center lane. It is recommended that the length also be confirmed before each session of competition."
Note that USA-S is sometimes more lax about pool measurement than USMS; don't just assume that the pool has been measured/verified just b/c it is a USA-S meet.
Once you've swum the meet, alert your Top Ten person about your swims and give them a link to the meet results (preferably a Meet Manager file if available).
