2009 USMS Short Course National Championships

2009 USMS Short Course National Championships 5/7/2009 - 5/10/2009 Fresno, CA www.usms.org/.../scnats09 Are you going?
  • Yep, gunna be there. Don't know if I can get the day off thursday, which means I can't swim the 1500 or the 1000 (too bad they are on the same day)! Means I will most likely swim the 500, 200 and 100 free.
  • Nope, not enough dough and not very accessible to get to(too many layovers) But, plan to do Indy. I am thinking of doing YMCA Masters Nats but I might not have enough money for that either. Luckily, I have Colonies Zone Champs to be my taper meet but it looks like it might be alot of east coasters taper meet.
  • I am from Fresno, but now living in Ohio. The team I train with is going to Ft. Lauderdale for YCMA Nationals, so I will be there. Having lived in Fresno and knowing what I know about the area, I would much rather invest the time and money to compete in Florida in April as oppsed to Fresno is May, just from the vacation aspect. Getting to Fresno is not a big deal. I have always made it with only one layover. American has a hub in Dallas and goes directly from there to Fresno
  • Yes, I plan to attend. I see this year they are allowing swimmers to enter both the 1000 and 1650 as long as they've made the time standard in both. Don't think I will, but nice to have the option!
  • Yes, flying from VA and looking forward to the great outdoor pool.
  • Alas, definitely not for Saturday or Sunday, but I'm starting to imagine a possibility for attending on Friday. This weekend is ending up bad for me from a family perspective. I've got to figure out my taper meet plans. Here are the options I see in front of me: Option #1: Peak for AZ SCY Champs at the end of March This really seems too early for where I am in my training Option #2: Peak for either Colonies Zone or SPMA Champs (April 24th/26th weekend) Neither of these look optimal to me as I noted in my blog (forums.usms.org/blog.php Option #3: Peak for AZ SCY Champs for every key event except 400 IM / 200 free Come to Nationals for Friday only to swim the 400 IM, 200 free and and then maybe throw in the 100 back for fun I've pretty much ruled out #1 and, until this morning, I thought #2 was the only other choice. Option #3 is starting to have some appeal for me because I really like going to Nationals and getting there for one day would allow me to swim 2 of my 4 favorite events. I'll wait to make up my mind until mid-end of February when I see how my training is progressing.
  • AZ SCY Champs at the end of March Is this meet definitely on for the end of March? I'm not going to Clovis. I'm traveling to AZ in early April and don't want to do another long round trip to a more remote spot on the west coast. Tentatively planning on Indy.
  • Is this meet definitely on for the end of March? It's on the AZ LSMC website (see www.azlmsc.org/events.htm), but I'm not 100% sure. My only hesitation is that I know the Masters' team that works out there (Brophy Masters) is going through some "ownership/pool space challenges" as Paul mentioned in another forum thread. You might want to ping Doug Adamavich to see if its 100% confirmed, especially if you're considering coming out. The facility is quite nice (www.brophysportscampus.org/.../index.html) and very close to excellent hotels, restaurants, spas, entertainment, etc. Deep pool throughout. I used to train there, but haven't competed there in awhile. My daughter swims her brains out, though, whenever she's at that pool so it's got some good mojo as far as my family is concerned. One caveat: the locker rooms (I can only speak for the men's) completely suck (unless they've revamped them since November when I was last there).
